PESHAWAR: Deposed Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court on Friday took fresh oath as Chief Justice of PHC.
The oath taking ceremony was held in Governor House while NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani administered the oath.
It may be mentioned that four judges of Peshawar High Court including Tariq Pervez Justice Shah Jahan, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Dost Muhammad Khan had refused to take oath after former President Pervez Musharraf imposed emergency rule on November 3.
Earlier, federal law ministry issued notification for re-appointment of deposed chief justice PHC Tariq Pervez.
Justice Shah Jahan has also expressed his willingness on taking oath again. On the other hand, PHC deposed Judge, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Dost Muhammad Khan have refused to take oath again and according to sources they are also being convinced to take oath.
After the retirement of former CJ of PHC Justice Raza Mohammad Khan, PCO Justice Jahanzab Rahim was working as acting CJ of PHC.
Chairman Peshawar High Court Bar Association Latif Afridi welcoming the decision of deposed CJ to take oath however has criticized the government with respect to restoration of judges he told BBC that the Nov 3 steps were unconstitutional and the deposed judges have no need to take fresh oath they can be reinstated through an executive order.-Online
