NAB to be winded up shortly, Senate told
ISLAMABAD: Leader of the House in Senate Mian Raza Rabbani Friday said as per announcement made by the Prime Minister, the government is going to wind up National Accountability Bureau (NAB) shortly. Replying to the point of order in the Upper House of the Parliament, he said budget of the Bureau has been frozen and it would be winded up completely. He said the coalition government believes in the accountability and the Bureau was established by the previous government and it had been used for political victimization. Replying to a question, Raza Rabbani said Pakistani embassy in the United States is in constant touch with the US administration over the matter of Dr. Afiya Siddiqui, adding that the government is doing its best for proper medical facility and ensure the return of her son from Afghanistan. "The government is well aware about its responsibilities and is doing its level best in the case of Dr. Afiya," he assured the Senate. He said the government would make its words regarding the regularization of contractual employees from grade 1 to 15 and a notification has already been issued that is being implemented in some institutions. Speaking on another point of order, Abbas Kumeli alleged that the Parliamentarians are not being given Hajj quota allotted by the government and later he walked out of Senate as protest. Senator Azam Swati requested the chair to refer the matter to the Senate committee regarding the alleged embezzlements in NCHD funds and demanded the government for putting the name of Nasim Ashraf chairman PCB on Exit Control List (ECL). Later, the Chair adjourned the Hosue to meet again on Monday at 1100 hours.-APP
