Upcoming NA session to evolve national strategy on security; Farzana Raja
NOWSHERA: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Farzan Raja said on Friday that the nation was united against any aggression and the recently held national conference bore testimony to this fact. Talking to media-men after inaugurating NADRA and BISP Registration offices at Relief Camp for Bajaur IDPs and formally launching BISP at Benazir Complex in Risalpur, Farzan Raja said, the government has taken all the national politicians into confidence on the issue of national security by convening the All Parties Conference wherein the participants expressed the resolve of oneness on the matter. The entire nation would stand like iron wall if the aggressor carried out any misadventure against it, she maintained. In response to a question, the PPP leader said that the upcoming session of the National Assembly scheduled to commence from December 15, 2008 would formulate a consensual national strategy on the issue of security. About the BISP, which she is heading, would provided monthly fiscal assistance to 3.5 women all over the country which also included the females residing in relief camps setup for the IDPs of Bajaur and other areas. She said NADRA and BISP registration offices have been setup in relief camps on the directives of the President and Prime Minister to register the deserving women for Rs.1000 monthly stipend. She said BISP scope would be later extended to health and life insurance as well. Later addressing a gathering of internally displaced women in Risalpur relief camp, she said that Islam attaches great importance to the women folk and has given them a very high status. The women, she could play effective role in the national uplift programs. Earlier she formally inaugurated NADRA and BISP registration offices in the relief camp and held talks with the affected women. She apprised themselves of the problems and difficulties faced by the women in the relief camp. She also visited the school in the camp established by the Unicef. The officials of Afghan Commissionerat briefed the Chairperson BISP about the relief camp and number of total IDPs. She was told that a total of 400 families comprising 2613 individuals are residing the camp in 407 tents. The arrangements of the camp and security were the concern of the Afghan Commissionerat.-APP
