National Assembly body demands resignation but Naek defends CJP Dogar

ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Education, Aabid Sher Ali has written a letter to President Asif Ali Zardari to file a reference against Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar in the Supreme Judicial Council and demand his resignation.
According to a private TV channel the Chairman also asked the President to help hold Committee's session while Speaker National Assembly should issue the notification of Committee's session on December 15.
The Chairman said that government should adopt positive policies to ensure the Parliament's integrity, and said that it would be considered illegal if the Committee's proceeding were stopped and a reference should be registered against the judges who issued the stay order of committee's proceedings.
He also urged the President to seek the resignation of the Chief Justice.
Terming Abdul Hameed Dogar as constitutional Chief Justice of the country, Federal Law Minister Farooq H. Naek has said he (Dogar) played no role regarding awarding extra marks to his daughter Farah Hamid Dogar.
Talking to media men after attending meeting of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), the Federal Minster stated that neither any proof was provided about interference by Chief Justice regarding awarding extra marks to his daughter nor any action is being taken against him.
He said that NA Committee neither could summon Chief Justice nor discuss the matter.-Online
