PML-Q tables 18th Amendment Bill

ISLAMABAD: Submitting 18th Amendment Bill before the Senate Secretariat, Pakistan Muslim League-Q has demanded to implement Parliamentary System after abolishing 17th Amendment and to transfer powers of dissolving assembly to the Prime Minister from President.
Talking to media men here in front of the Parliament House, Senator Saifullah Khan of PML-Q demanded to setup a permanent Secretariat of Council of Common and Trust and abolishing of Article 58-2(b), taking back powers of dissolving powers from President and Governor and to appoint Speaker as Acting Governor in the absence of Governor.
Senator Saifullah Khan said that he submitted the bill before the Senate Secretariat, which recommended the approval from Senate before appointment of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
It was also recommended in the bill to extend the range of Political Act to FATA and any arrested member of the Parliament should be presented before the court within 24 hours after his/her arrest and he/she should be given chance to justify allegations leveled against him/her. The Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader should be consulted regarding the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner.
He said that Gawadar should be handed over to Karachi while the rights of Gawadar Port to be given to Balochistan aimed to remove allegations on the federation regarding usurping rights of provinces.
The constitution of the country should be amended in accordance with 1973 constitution as the Federation has no confidence over provinces despite passing of 60 years, adding only 1 million people are living in the capital while 170 million people are living in provinces.
He also demanded abolishing of Contract System and shifting the powers of changing names of provinces to respective provinces and the inclusion of Senate members into Public Accounts Committees.-Online
