PPPP’s constitutional package to bring political stability: Minister

PESHAWAR: NWFP Senior Minister, Rahim Dad Khan has said that implementation of constitutional package proposed by leadership of PPPP will bring political stability in the country and strengthen institutions.
He expressed these views while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday at Committee Room of P&D department.
Rahim Dad Khan, who also holds the portfolio of P&D, said that the constitutional package, if implemented, would benefit the whole population of the country by empowering parliament.
In the proposed constitutional package, he continued, all aspects were touched including the controversial clause of constitution (58/2b).
Rahim Dad Khan also thanked Co-Chairman of PPPP, Asif Ali Zardari for fulfilling the long lasting demands of people of NWFP including renaming of the province and dropping of Kalabagh dam project.
He said people are much jubilant over renaming of NWFP and said that population of Hazara belt and Southern districts would be taken into confidence on the issue.
Similarly, Rahim Dad added, people in NWFP were much concerned over Kalabagh dam project which if constructed would have affect the population several districts of the province.
Responding to a question, Rahim Dad said the concern of some political parties on NWFP naming issue and Kalabagh dam would be removed. He said it is a reality that Pushto speaking people are dominant in NWFP and therefore its new name (Pukhtoonkhwa) is proper for it.
When asked about the net hydel profit issue, he said the matter is subjudice as is in the court. However, he expressed the hope that federal government will resolve this issue and give due share of NWFP.-APP
