Removal of ban on Jamat-ud-Dawa urged

LAHORE: All Parties Conference has strongly condemned the sanctions against Jamaat-ud-Dawa and called upon the United Nations (UN) to remove all the sanctions against the charity group.
An All Parties Conference, organised by Tehreek-e-Hurmat-e-Rasool (PBUH), was held in Lahore on Sunday to discuss the sanctions imposed on Jamat-ud-Dawa by the United Nations, the activities of the Pakistani Mission at the United Nations, Indian threats against Pakistan's security, and the policies of the government of Pakistan in dealing with the current situation. It was unanimously declared at the conclusion of the conference that:
All major political and religious parties and organisations of Pakistan attended the conference.
In the declaration, they adopted that sanctions against Jamat were imposed by the United Nations under pressure from America and India. That undue and unusual haste was clearly displayed in passing the resolution for imposition of sanctions. And that no attempt was made at finding out the banned outfit's point of view in this regard whatsoever.
All participants of the Conference forcefully condemned the resolution of the United Nations (UN) and reminded the UN that its resolutions regarding the Kashmir issue have been pending for the last 60 years.
We demand that India be forced to honor the said resolutions on Kashmir so that the Kashmir issue can be resolved and lasting peace can be established in the region, the participants said.
They said that this conference believes that it is not possible to dream of peace in the region without a solution of the fundamental issue of Kashmir.
The conference demands that the government reopen all of JuD offices and remove the ban on its relief activities and projects forthwith.
The conference also condemns the government's attempt to nationalise Jamat's educational institutions and cautions the government to not to become 'more faithful to the king than the king himself', as there is no demand from the Security Council to this effect.
They also demands the immediate removal of Abdullah Hussain Haroon from his post and initiation of a departmental inquiry against him for his role in the crime of allowing sanctions to be imposed against three Pakistani organisations.
The declaration said that Hafiz Muhammad Saeed is an extremely popular leader of Pakistan, as well as, a peaceful and highly respected citizen. His house arrest must be ended forthwith, the right of his freedom of expression acknowledged, and he should be given permission to give Khutbah-e-Jumma (Friday sermons) and address religious gatherings.
It said that India should be declared an anti-Pakistan state and all relations with it should be severed, and the drama of so-called peace process and negotiations ended.
The government must, itself, announce the closure of the supply line to NATO troops, and all assistance and support to NATO forces must be ended forthwith.
They also strongly condemned the American attacks against Pakistan. The government must now factually support the ongoing grassroots political freedom movement in occupied Kashmir, in word, as well as in deed, and end its criminal silence in this regard, they added.
The way in which the Pakistani media has responded courageously to Indian propaganda is extremely laudable. We expect this effort to protect national interests will continue in the future too, "In'shaa'allah.
The Conference vehemently condemned the role of the presidency in enlisting China's consent and help in the imposition of sanctions against Jamat-ud-Dawa.
The signatories of the declaration include Liaqat Baloch, Ameer, Jamat-e-Islami, Punjab; Aijaz Chaudhry, Vice President, Tehreek-e-Insaf Pakistan; Hameed-ud-Deen al-Mashraqi, Quaid , Tehreek-e-Khaksaar Pakistan; Manzoor Ali Gilani, Quaid , Tehreek-e-Istaqlal Pakistan; Pir Saifullah Khalid Naqshbandi, Raees , Jamia Manzoor al-Islamia; Nazir Gondal, Member, central leadership, PDP; Maulana Abd-ul-Ghaffar Ropari, Ameer , Jamaat Ahl-e-Hadeeth Pakistan; Maulana Naeem Badshah, Head, Department of Information, Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadeeth Pakistan; Maulana Amjad Khan, Head, Department of Information; Major Gen (Retd.)
