Bomb blasts (15082008)

In the later hours of the Independence Eve when people were out and about celebrating the onset of 61st Independence Day of the country, a bomb blast ripped through the vicinity of a police station in the heart of Lahore's Allama Iqbal Town, a middle class neighbourhood. This was preceded by another bomb blast in Peshawar, where the target was the personnel of Pakistan Air Force.
The terrorists, who have claimed religious objectives, have lived upto their promise and brought the war to the cities of Pakistan and are openly targeting the personnel of law enforcement and defence forces. The terrorists have openly declared a war on the people of Pakistan.
The country is in the grip of an impeachment motion against the President who demands to know the charges against him. The audacity of the man! The country is in the grip of a civil war, Muslim extremists are killing their Muslim brothers and targeting Armed forces and security personnel, India is belligerent, Afghanistan down right hostile and ISI is accusing CIA of helping terrorists in Pakistan. These are compounded failures of the policies that have been followed by the President who has ruled the country for past eight years. The economic miracle, the President and his handpicked prime minister were talking about for past many years has disappeared like a rabbit into a magician's hat!
The country has too many problems and the President is not only root cause of many of these problems but has become a problem himself. He must go and let the elected government deal with the mess past eight years of dictatorship has landed the country into. Everything President Musharraf and his military advisors have done in past eight years has failed and now a completely new policy is needed to deal with war on terror and the internal conflicts which have been created during these years.
